


World Oral Health Day
Under the patronage of her Excellency Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry Mohamed, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdo, Vice President of the University; in the framework of celebrating World Oral Health Day – In collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry at Sinai University, Arish Branch, and the FDI World Dental Federation, the faculty, under the supervision of: Professor Dr. Khaled Mohamed Mohamed Hajjaj, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Mowad Ghoneim, Vice Dean of the Faculty, organized the following activities:
First: – On Sunday, February 23, 2025, a delegation from the FDI World Dental Federation, led by Dr. Nahawand Thabet, a member of the FDI Council and its representative for Africa, along with her accompanying team, visited the university. The delegation was received by: Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry Mohamed, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdo, Vice President of the University; and Mr. Ahmed Farag, Secretary-General of the University. Both parties discussed the latest advancements in dentistry and oral health and emphasized the significance of raising awareness about World Oral Health Day.
Following this, Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry Mohamed, Dr. Nahawand Thabet, and Mr. Ahmed Farag, in the presence of the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty and Major General Gamal Hajjawi, visited Major General Dr. Khaled Maghawar, Governor of North Sinai, in his office. The Governor expressed his gratitude and appreciation and agreed with Professor Dr. Jehan Fikry Mohamed, President of the University, to organize several medical convoys to Al-Rawdah village in North Sinai, as well as to various schools and an orphanage in the governorate.
Second: – The faculty held a welcome and introductory seminar for Dr. Nahawand Thabet and her accompanying team, attended by faculty members, teaching assistants, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Alyan, the chief of Sinai Bedouin tribes, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Nabi, Director of North Sinai Radio.
After the seminar, the faculty organized awareness sessions within the Faculty of Dentistry campus, attended by the Vice President of the University, the Dean, and the Vice Dean, along with a distinguished group of professors. The sessions included participation from students, staff, and university employees.
During these sessions, awareness brochures were distributed, and gifts were offered by HALEON.
At the end of the day, the delegation departed from the blessed land of North Sinai, expressing their deep gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. They praised the modernity and beauty of the university and its surrounding environment, hoping to visit the university again many times in the future.
Third: – At exactly 8:30 AM on Monday, February 24, 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry convoy set out, led by Prof. Dr. Khaled Mohamed Mohamed Hajjaj, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mowad Ghoneim, Vice Dean of the Faculty. The convoy also included Prof. Dr. Iman Shakl, Head of the Prosthodontics Department; Associate Professor Dr. Osama Abdel Raouf El-Dakrouri, Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department; Dr. Islam El-Mirghani, Deputy of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department; several intern doctors, and students from different academic levels.
The convoy carried diagnostic equipment and gifts from Signal, including approximately 1,400 toothbrushes and toothpaste, along with educational brochures.
The first stop was at Martyr Major Mohamed El-Zamlout School, where the team met and celebrated with the children in a joyful atmosphere. Around 400 children received toothbrushes and toothpaste as gifts from Signal.
Fourth: – Continuing the day’s activities, the convoy proceeded to Al-Kenana School, where they engaged with the students and distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to around 500 children.
Fifth: – The convoy then headed to Al-Rawdah Martyrs’ Village, following the directives of Major General Dr. Khaled Maghawar, Governor of North Sinai; Dr. Hassan Rateb, Secretary of the Board of Trustees at Sinai University; Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry Mohamed, President of the University; and Mr. Ahmed Farag, Secretary-General of the University.
The convoy prioritized the resilient residents of this heroic village, providing medical treatment for several cases and referring others to the university’s dental clinics for further care. Additionally, 400 toothbrush and toothpaste kits were distributed.
Sixth: – Concluding the day, the convoy visited the orphanage in Arish, where the Vice Dean of the Faculty met the children, offering words of encouragement and support. Around 100 toothbrush and toothpaste kits were distributed before the convoy returned to the faculty, filled with happiness and positive energy.
Giving thanks for the opportunity to assist local residents, orphaned children, and raise awareness about oral health, and in accordance with the directives of Professor Dr. Jehan Fikry Mohamed, the faculty has begun preparations to receive children from the orphanage at the university. University buses will be arranged to transport the children to and from the dental clinics, where they will receive the necessary treatment.
