Scientific Trip to Smart Village for the Students of the Faculty of Information Technology

Under the generous patronage of Prof. Dr. Gehan Fekry, President of Sinai University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdo, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs – Arish Branch, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sharaf El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, the Faculty organized a scientific trip to the Smart Village on the morning of Sunday, April 27, 2025. The trip included a group of third- and fourth-year students from the faculty.

The visit began with a tour of the Information Technology Institute (ITI), where students attended an introductory lecture about the institute, its departments, and the various tracks it offers. The lecture highlighted the importance of the cybersecurity track, the major challenges and vulnerabilities associated with it, and its strong opportunities in the job market. This was followed by a presentation on mobile software development (iOS and Android using Java), emphasizing the relevance and growing demand for this field.

Later, the students visited the headquarters of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). This visit included two main parts:

  1. An introductory lecture about the agency, its role in supporting business incubators, the projects it sponsors, and the services it provides to youth and entrepreneurs.
  2. A visit to the “Egypt Makes Electronics” section, where students had a practical look at the agency’s capabilities and how it supports innovative ideas and transforms them into viable projects.

The students concluded their trip with a cultural tour that included visits to Al-Hussein Mosque, Khan El-Khalili, Al-Muizz Street, and Downtown Cairo. This added a spiritual and cultural dimension to their day.

The visit was marked by a warm welcome from all hosting entities, especially considering that most of the students are from the beloved region of Sinai. The students expressed their great happiness with the trip, which helped them gain clearer insight into choosing the right specialization and preparing for the post-graduation phase, whether by joining companies or launching their own projects.
